Some might consider all this “user centered” stuff to be simply pandering to the lowest common denominator of human ability.

At courant.com, we often joke that our click-throughs rate on our afternoon email news alert would be astronomical if we simply gave people links to stories about weird animal happenings and accidents.

Users are not clicking on the “important” news about Iraq or North Korea. If a headline reads like this: “Ape Scolded for Pulling Fire Alarm” – people will go for it. Always the lowest common denominator.

Been there, done that, and grown from it. Sometimes friends that don’t stick around reveal a lot about ourselves and how strong we are without them.
